Does anyone have photos of Katz's Walnut Mountain House that I went to in Liberty, New York back in the 1940s?

I searched Google Web and Google Images and could not come up with a single photo.

I have access to old newspapers online; let me see if I can find something.

This is a cool video about Grossinger’s in Liberty NY

Vanishing Catskills has a pretty comprehensive list of properties, and has a number of unidentified properties as well. I found mention of Katz’s Bakery in Liberty, and I found reference to Walnut Mountain House being the first hotel in the area, but it had burned down by 1913, and at that time, only the foundation remained.

Was it a full service hotel, summer camp or bungalow colony? How did your family come to select it?

Those are great sites. I remember Walter’s Valley View in Loch Sheldrake Early 60’s That was only 5 miles from Liberty.

@BarnacleBill I couldn’t find Sacks Lodge on that site. I used to go there in the summer. That would have been cool to see. It was in Saugerties. I think it became a tennis camp of some sort, not sure if it is still around.

I have not actually seen the contents on these CD’s but this website has some CD’s with images from Liberty. You might be able to contact these folks and see if they have any photos or resources for you to check out.

You might be able to contact someone from the Sullivan County Historical Society to get some references.
