Any one know how to quickly put on weight?

Asked by tan235 (877points) February 2nd, 2011

hey all again.

So I“ve been noticing lately that I feel thinner than normal.
I’ve always been skinny but lately I feel to skinny.
I’m 51 kg, height 1.60 so 5’5 I think.
I have a little frame and my dad was never able to put on weight.
However I just lose it so easily and now I’m starting to think something is wrong with me like cancer.
I havn’t lost anymore weight, I seem to be quite stable where I am, but I feel thin.
I’ve tried and tried to put on weight, i’m 33 and want children and know that weight helps you conceive. (as well as sex)
so… does anyone have any good ways to just get fat!

Thanks

Eat butter.

I’ve started eating butter actually! I should say I suffer very badly from anxiety, not self diagnosed… but it’s been very bad lately.

Eat when you arent hungry. Eat a tripple decker peanut butter and jelly sandwich every 2 hours in addition to your normal meals.

Eating is now your job.

That’s true, but that’s unhealthy…. I want to gain healthy weight and peanut butter and jelly sandwhichs don’t sound healthy!
I’ve been drinking Milk, eating pasta but i get bad indigestion, so can’t, I guess I mainly eat salads.. .maybe some people are just small?

Well some people are just small, that is correct. Are you lifting?

no exercise, i didn’t want to lose anymore weight so stopped doing exercise!
I just have no fat… it’s annoying.

If you think there is something wrong with you, see a doctor.

High protien low carbs. AND EAT a regular meal EVERY 2 HOURs. Calorie count. Trust me…

I used to be like that now, I am trying to get the weight off… so be careful what you wish for.

Try adding supplemental nutritional drinks like Ensure or Boost to your meals. It’s very easy to fit in extra liquids, and these drinks are 250–350 calories a serving.

If you really think you might have cancer, see your doctor. Get some blood tests.

a sign of cancer is losing weight correct?

@mowens I’m the same as you and I think it’s mostly genetic. Skinny as a rake until age about 42 or so, then I’ve started gaining weight and now I feel too heavy. My father has always been very skinny, and very fit (long distance cycling still, and he’s in his 70s).

@tan235 Stress and anxiety can cause you to lose weight too, but if you’re worried there may be a medical reason, go and see your doctor.

Sumo wrestlers eat huge amounts of a type of traditional hot-pot soup called chanko nabe, which allows them to keep up their weight and maintain their muscle mass. You have the benefit of knowing that it will definitely provide copious calories. There are a great number of chanko nabe recipes available online.

What Sumo wrestlers do to bulk up is to gorge on white rice, then go to bed. The excess of simple carbs are converted to fat stores – especially if you sleep right away so that you give your body a chance to use much of the energy.

my only problem is that if i eat before I go to bed, i get the worst heart burn, I can’t eat pasta or bread, pizza anything fatty as I am in so much pain!
it’s horrible.
I know it’s definitely heart burn as I quick-eze helps.
grrrrr.
