My brain just track that way…sorry. :-(

The Q&A threads are pretty conversational already – but are designed to have people think through the answers more.

I came here for more thoughtful discussions – and chat rooms often get confusing with overlap, etc., and is too close to texting for me.

JilltheTooth's avatar

Ooops. ”Doesn’t” track that way.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

My name is @lucillelucillelucille and I am a slow,crappy typist. ;)

I go to the chat rooms when I’m in a really talkative mood, otherwise I stay out of them.

Dog's avatar

Lately there are not many conversations going. That or I am just missing them. ~Or people are hiding when I come around… ;)

OMG! It’s that Wylde Dog! Run for your lives!

The chat rooms confuse me. It’s almost impossible to carry on a conversation. People drop in and out of discussions so there’s little continuity. It seems like there’s an in-crowd that knows each other’s names, so people always saying all these names and I have no idea who they are talking to. It’s unpleasant to feel like an outsider, especially amongst people you know—if you knew what their names were. Then again, the people I see in the chat room are not usually people I see on fluther.

When I chat with another jelly I prefer to do it by PM so it’s not broadcast to the world and I don’t have to be concerned about what I say. The Q&A section is public enough for me.

marinelife's avatar

I feel awkward joining an existing conversation.

janbb's avatar

I need an excuse??

erichw1504's avatar

Don’t see the point when questions provide all the chat I need.

I’ve just never been a chatty person. I prefer to talk to people face to face. I’ve always hated to talk on the phone too. It makes me uncomfortable for some reason.

I’ve looked at the chat a few times and it was going too fast for me. I was never great at speed reading! I also don’t spend a long time on Fluther when I do visit. I’m usually doing other things and just spend five minutes here and there. Those five minutes here and there add up to quite a bit, but it would be impossible to keep a conversation going in chat.

My mommy tole me never to talk to people on the interweb.

Chat is too demanding. You have to make a commitment and be there. With Q and A, I can pop in and out when I like.

The tw@…......sorry chatroom, just ain’t my bag…....baby ;¬}

cockswain's avatar

When I was new to the site, a few users scammed me into sending them $1000 via Paypal. Never going in there again.

seazen's avatar

I won’t say who – but a certain someone I avoid there.

JilltheTooth's avatar

But, @seazen , there you are!

seazen's avatar

Yes – but he/she is not.

Michael_Huntington's avatar

Been busy dismembering necromorphs and reading V for Vendetta.

seazen's avatar

@JilltheTooth And yet – there I was for half an hour with no-one joining me… sigh – fluther chat: where jellies go to die.

Fluther has chat rooms?

I think I actually participated a couple of times, but have entirely forgotten about them

downtide's avatar

Whenever I look, there’s never anyone there that I know. The chatroom people do not appear to be the same people that I see regularly posting in questions.

Likeradar's avatar

I used to visit. Then I decided, that well, quite honestly I just didn’t care about the majority of the chatter. It just wasn’t for me.

seazen's avatar

OKAY: everyone go to the chatroom now! See you there!

wilma's avatar

Okay, that was scary.
I felt like I was standing in there naked.

seazen's avatar

Lonely, I’m chatroom lonely… there is nobody – I’m all alone…

wilma's avatar

Sorry @seazen I’m a chatroom virgin.

IHateMusic's avatar

Nothing to talk about.

seazen's avatar

Well, at least that.

talljasperman's avatar

It’s hard to strike up a conversation with people who are all ready talking about something else…

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

Exactly what @talljasperman said. I have tried the chat rooms, but, I never feel like I can jump into the conversation.

rooeytoo's avatar

There never seems to be anyone there when I have the time. That’s what happens when you live on the other side of the world!

bob_'s avatar

I’m still there. It’s lonely :(

partyparty's avatar

Because I am shy!!

rooeytoo's avatar

I was just there, said @bob_ was there and Windex too (I have never met windex) but when I spoke to them, they didn’t answer!!! I think it was all a ruse!

bob_'s avatar

@rooeytoo I replied. Didn’t get a reply back :/

wilma's avatar

Perhaps it’s the Twilight Zone of chatrooms?

janbb's avatar

Or the Roach Motel?

incendiary_dan's avatar

I do about two thirds of my fluthering while at work, which seems to be when few people are on the chat. I’ve checked it out once or twice, but never saw more than a couple people in there, and it was often people I didn’t think I was interested in talking to.

Bellatrix's avatar

I went into a chat room a couple of times when I was very busy avoiding work and there were people listed as being there but nobody spoke. So I left…

breedmitch's avatar

Seazen is always there and I don’t want to talk to her. ~

cockswain's avatar

seazen is female?

Buttonstc's avatar

I don’t need no stinkin’ excuse.

But just for the record, it isn’t set up to work with iPhone apparently.

Last time I tried, I could see who else was there, they could see me and some greeted me. However my greeting back to them just wouldn’t shoe up no matter how many times I typed it in. So it made it look like I was ignoring them or snooping or whatever. No matter what I did, nothing I typed ever appeared on the screen. So I just gave up.
