What's a good Mind Mapping software?

Asked by the_sherpa (108points) February 8th, 2011

I need to map out several film projects I’m working on. I’ve seen mind mapping software before that I think would help organize something that has so many elements.
I can’t remember what it was called, and I’m not sure that it was really the best software anyway.
Have you used mind mapping software? If so, which ones, for what, and what did/do you like about them?

Thanks!

I do like X-mind, it has the features I need, like the ability to show and hide branches, and it is easy enough fir me to use.. and I belive it is free :)

This program is great! Very simple to use and it has a very simple layout. Downloading and Installing are also very easy.

There are quite a few things to consider, like how big the maps are likely to get, whether you’ll be sharing them with others or even collaborating, your personal taste on appearance, your budget, whether you want project management capabilities (and with film projects, sounds as if you might) and so on.

There’s an article here that makes some suggestions, with screenshots. It should help with your decision: http://www.informationtamers.com/WikIT/index.php?title=Best_mind_mapping_software
