How do I get my phone out of this mode?

I have a Vortex, with the Droid OS. When I go into my texts sometimes, all the names disappear and are replaced by the numbers. I can’t tell who is who unless I go through the messages and remember what was said. How do I get it out of this mode? It’s dangerous!
