How to open a website which is protected by proxy?

Asked by elhaha1001 (383points) February 12th, 2011

I want to open a website which only could be accessed in my office from home (or other places)

I can only access the website in my office so it is kind of disturbing and annoying. From other places it can’t be accessed.

Any suggestions on how to do so? thanks

Just use teamviewer and controll your office PC from home, or ask the manager to set up acces for you to work on it at home.

You could ask the IT department to enable your PC as a proxy for you to use or to allow you to connect to the office proxy from home. Probably the second one would be more practical for both parties.

Ask your IT dept about VPN, or set up VPN on the office pc if you have privileges. There are lots of easy (basically automatic vpn clients). You can also use the OS’s vpn wizards.

using google translate works sometimes, too.

I would recommend NOT trying to go around the block. You could get yourself into serious trouble. I have fired people for abusing the internet connection at work in such a way. If you really need access to certain sites, contact the administrator of your schools network. They might open that site up (most sites are simply part of a ‘group’ that gets blocked. They might not even know they have that specific site blocked). I have done this before for sites that we needed to get to, but were blocked by our security software. It only takes a minute to make the changes.
