How do you change the language setting in XP Home Edition?

Asked by MissAnthrope (21511points) February 14th, 2011

My mom’s computer basically died and her tech guy was working on it. The PC was bought in the US and is running a US version of XP Home (so I know it’s possible to get it in English).

The issue is that she’s in Italy and her tech guy is Italian, so he switched over the language and I’m not sure how to get it back to English for her.

I’m rather confused by the ‘Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options’ menu in Control Panel. Your help would be most appreciated. :)

Start | Control Panel | Regional and Language Options | Languages | Details | Add or Select the Language in the Pull Down if already installed

Let me know if you can’t find it.

Thank you! Does she need to restart once she’s done that?

With XP you shouldn’t have to, but it’s Windows. After any major change, I always recommend restarting. That way you know if the change messed up something right away. Weeks later if an issue were to come up and it was the first reboot, you may have forgotten.
