that’s cool u like fluid? Its easy to use?

iwamoto's avatar

it’s as easy as typing in the url, naming it, and pressing the create button :)

Hollister0221's avatar

now when u press create it creates a icon? And if u can send more desk top pics of fluid. I’m thinking of getting. Free?

Vincentt's avatar

Nope, I’ve disabled the dock as I found it annoying. I just type in “fluther” in the address bar when I want to visit ;-)

iwamoto's avatar

well, it’s also written about on the flutter site (with a nice big flutter logo), if you don’t have a subtitute logo, fluid will pick the “favicon” for that site, some more pictures:

as you can see, it creates a site specific browser, so it’s an app i can just click, and it has its own little fluther browser, just great

www.fluidapp.com

that’s awesome. So essentially it makes a application for a web site?

iwamoto's avatar

@vincentt
how did you disable the dock exactly? i guess you could use a certain script to disable the dock from running, but it would be very inconvenient…...or did you just put it on hide? damn, that post doesn’t make sense

wildflower's avatar

I just have fluther bookmarked…I’m never short on open browser windows.

Now if there was a dashboard widget…....that I would install!

Hollister0221's avatar

oh so u got fluid also? Like it?

wildflower's avatar

I’ve got fluid, just not the kind for making dock icons…..this bottle of water will do for me.

Breefield's avatar

Yeah, it seemed too much of a hassle to me, I installed it once before I saw this question but I got rid of it because it required launching a whole new web browser.

@wildflower: here
It was made by one of our own fluther members. His name is Davey. He’s 14 and from Holland.

Breefield's avatar

I didn’t know klaas4 was 14, he was talking about having children earlier this week I thought, maybe it’s just my imagination.

wildflower's avatar

excellent! Thanks for that!

iwamoto's avatar

haha, wow, well, we dutch are like hobbits, we live in a small country but we do great things…

wildflower's avatar

yes yes….everything’s better in Holland…..Hup Holland!

But ye aren’t very short on average.

iwamoto's avatar

that’s true, the only bad thing about holland…there’s also a lot of morons over here, impulsive troublemakers, racists, politicians, you name it…funny thing, geert wilders is all of the above…. :p

Vincentt's avatar

@iwamoto – sorry, “the” dock is perhaps a bit confusing. I don’t use a Mac, but I tried the “Avant Window Navigator” application, which provides a dock, but I removed it since I found it annoying and taking up too much space while leaving the corners unused.

@Hollister – you should check out Mozilla Prism, that allows you to easily create a site specific browser to help you turn websites into desktop applications.

@Breefield – 14 year-olds can also think about having children I suppose :)

@wildflower – the Netherlands rocks allright :)
Though everybody being so tall is terrible being just 1,74m…

And iwamoto – those morons just get a lot of attention, but even though there might be a lot of theme, they are isolated since they cannot work together (I’m thinking Geert Wilders here). They don’t like compromise.

Heck, even if Geert Wilders would turn premier, he wouldn’t even make it through those four years because he is an incapable leader. He is in his element (is that correct English?) in opposition, kicking riot, but he has no real plan that will really improve whatever he sees as a problem, and he won’t be able to cope financially. In the end, everything will go back to normal, with perhaps an economic low and even less trust in politicians.

And hey, our political situation is still far better than Italy :)

iwamoto's avatar

well, we both saw what happend when pim fortuyn was already dead, people just vote…

but yeah, italy, silvio is back…see, same situation, you can see it’s bad news but the mass votes for him anyway

Vincentt's avatar

Yes, and after Pim Fortuyn died his part grew large, then faded away, and the same will happen to the PVV :)

And Italy is an entirely different countries. They’ve been through 61 (!) governments since the second world war, Berlusconi was the first to finish a term. I don’t think Dutch people would blindingly follow one person en masse.

wildflower's avatar

damn! You dutchies can go on….

iwamoto's avatar

vince already made one, go ahead and share your ideas, be part of the collective

Vincentt's avatar

Sorry wildflower. If anyone wants to continue the discussion, feel free to do so on my comments page :)

wildflower's avatar

meh, you’re grand….just remind me of living with a Dutch housemate some years back…

iwamoto's avatar

how was he? farting beerdrinker with a ralph lauren polo? crusty hippy? somwhere in between?

wildflower's avatar

hahahaha….she was Indonesian, a great cook and incapable of speaking English to me before her morning coffee

Vincentt's avatar

Woohoo, my father was born in Indonesia so I suppose I’m part-Indonesian :)
(Sorry, I figure nobody minds a thread hijack?)

wildflower's avatar

lol….I doubt it, it seems to happen a lot around here…
