@Seeya the US Supreme Court doesn’t assign cases by states to member. The members review cases as a collective court. We currently have Chief Justice John Roberts, Jr. and eight Associate Justices who make up the US Supreme Court.

The state of Florida has a State Supreme Court that is an inferior court to the US Supreme Court. The Florida Supreme Court consists of Chief Justice Charles T. Canady and six other Justices.

Did I misundertand your question?

To add to what @bkcunningham said, Florida is currently assigned to the 11th Federal Circuit court district.

Certain Justices if I am not mistaken take review of case by states or circuits is what I was told. Also they handle inquires from same. I am trying to find out if this is so.

Justice Clarence Thomas is the circuit justice for Florida. He is assigned to oversee the 11th federal judicial circuit of Florida. Thomas would give the in-chambers opinion, which is what that would be called.

“An in-chambers opinion is written by an individual Justice, usually the Justice for the Circuit from which the case arises, to dispose of an application by a party to the case for interim relief, e.g., for a stay of the judgment of the court below, for vacation of a stay, or for a temporary injunction,” according to the US Supreme Court website.

I bet that is what you are asking. Hope it helps.

@bkcunningham is right – in terms of what I think you’re asking. It’s Clarence Thomas.
