Why is my printer not recognizing my ink cartridges?

Asked by valdasta (2146points) March 4th, 2011

I went through the trouble shooting options, but they didn’t really help. I bought new ink cartridges for my printer, but I get a message on my computer saying that the cartridges are not the right ones. I took the cartridges back to the store (in case they were defective) and exchanged them. I still get the same message.

Any suggestions?

Have you verified that they are, indeed, the right ones? Are they a different brand than that of your printer?

Get the latest driver from the printer’s website.

You may need to clean the printer before you put in the new cartridges. Especially the contact points with the cartridges.

Yes they are the correct ones…check, check, and double-check.
@WestRiverrat I will try that.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
