What do I Ido about neighbors who I suspect are running a major drug dealing operation? They are loud and I don't like that a different BMW is parked outside my house every hour.

Call the police from a pay phone or have a friend call for you away from your house.
Take photo’s if you can, make sure that it is infact a drug ring. Have their names ready and the times that they deal. Keep a log book. Any type of info you keep or give to the police the better. They can’t just start a “steak out” based on one complaint so maybe you will want to get other neighbors involved but you want to be careful. You may respect them and possibly they may like you too but believe me that the random cars out front could care less. Good luck with this.

slip an annoymous magazine-letter clipped note in the mail box that reads, “THEY KNOW.”

chill and knock ok their door to ask for some of their stash :-) seriously I would keep acting normal and contact DEA via email

cheebdragon's avatar

don’t call the police, dont be the 90 year old nosey a$$ neighbor that has the cops on speed dial and sits in the window.
Are you just jealous of all the bmw’s?

By the way… Drug dealers dont always drive bmw’s.

smallduck's avatar

either 1. ignore them, or 2. move. easy

TheHaight's avatar

what reasonable suspicion and maybe facts do you have, to make you think that there is really a drug dealing operation going on? Because if its because they’re loud and drive bmw’s… Then I guess my boyfriends family is drug dealers too!

gorillapaws's avatar

Sounds like a job for the A-Team to me. If you can’t get in touch with them, you could always call up the mystery machine crew…

If you’re REALLY hard up on help, I heard Gary Coleman’s working as a security guard these days.

Sometimes I’m really loud and about a year ago I owned a bmw z3. I never knew I was a drug dealer though. Many neighbors are loud. My bmw only cost me $9,000 and it was only 5 years old.

Seriously though, if you have suspicion, let someone know. They can make a choice from there. For your safety sake, don’t get involved what-so ever.

well i don’t think the fact that its a bmw is a problem. its the fact that its a different bmw every night. i mean 2 or 3 bmw’s, then maybe they’re just having company or have alot of cars or really like bmw’s. but if your seeing 10–20 of a different really expensive car, then i think they have a reason to be concerned. i would just email or give an annonymous tip to the police, but only if you know for sure

cheebdragon's avatar

stay out of it, you dont know what’s going on and your putting possibly innocent people at risk If you call the cops, google “deaths during police raids” and read up on it, why are people so fast to call the cops these days? Is it the new thing to do? Seriously…. did you know that when they raid houses they go thru EVERYTHING, would you want cops digging thru ALL your personal belongings?
would you want cops coming to your home and harrassing you? They could be just as innocent as you!

bulbatron9's avatar

@buster It’s “Snitches and talkers get stitches and walkers!” Dip $#!+

You said they’re loud, call in a noise disturbance!
I would stay out of it, if it were me! They could just be BMW salesmen! Mind your own business, and you’ll be fine!

Babo's avatar

I’d call the police! What if they have a Meth lab? You don’t want something like that blowing up right next to you! The police will just watch the house to confirm your suspicions and that alone might scare away the BMW’s if they really are doing anything illegal.

But I must admit, I really liked nocountry2’s suggestion too!!!

I know everyone is kind of bashing this question by now and I don’t know how many of you have eer lived next door to a drug dealer but I have and to hell with it. Regardless of what they are selling, even if it is just plain of maryjane…It attracts B.S. and who wants to live next door to that? So what if it is a BMW or a YUGO, perhaps they all have a friend who works for a BMW dealer, I have seen much stranger. The fact that they all drive BMW’s may be a link to someone who works somewhere???! Anyway, to hell with living next door to that, all it takes is ONE person to F’ it up and run the protential of being dragged in to it or witnessing something stupid.

scamp's avatar

@cheebdragon I think that link would be more helpful if we had one with the sucessful raids to compare it with.

@judochop I agree with what you are saying.

@dianalauren I think the way I would handle it would be to call the police about the noise disturbance and tell them that there seems to be something suspicious going on, but that you aren’t sure. maybe it’s not drug dealing, but a brothel? just tell them that you are concerned, and disturbed by the noise. but ask them not to come to your house to tell you when they come out, or they will know who called, and put you in some possible danger.

cheebdragon's avatar

Most people are not stupid enough to sell drugs right out of their home.

Too many cops, too little justice….

Babo's avatar

Maybe they’re just selling Tupperware?

cheebdragon's avatar

Maybe they are selling Avon or Mary kay!

Randy's avatar

Or girl scout cookies! =D if so, can you pick me up a box of thin mints and two of caramel delights?

cheebdragon's avatar

2nd the caramel delights!

TheHaight's avatar

3rd the caramel delights, I really have been craving them!!

Randy's avatar

Arn’t they the best? It’s such a bummer because you only get a few per box.

netspencer's avatar

First I’d have a friend who they won’t know try and act as a customer. Then u will ni forsure. Then call the police if they are v

bulbatron9's avatar

Great idea spence! Make sure it’s a friend you want DEAD!

That is probably the worst idea I’ve heard!

So I am the roommate of the person that posted this question. Here is the deal: We know there is something strange going on. It’s not the noise or the BMWs, its the large number of people pulling up, leaving 10 or 15 minutes later and when people leave, they are not leaving with tupperware. It’s clearly either drugs or some other kind of service that is being provided. It is problematic because of the large traffic in our very small street and its kind of sketchy that tons of people are coming in who stand outside the front of their house. So, we can keep ignoring it which is probably fine but no one has suggested actually befriending these folks and just asking them why they have so many visitors. What do folks think of that?

cheebdragon's avatar

If I were selling drugs, I wouldn’t tell my neighbor. But then again I also wouldn’t sell drugs right out of my house. Maybe they are a bookie, who knows?
Cops suck in my opinion, and calling them won’t help unless they are really bored, plus sometimes cops tell the people who complained about them, they are not
supposed to but sometimes they do.

dianalauren's avatar

OK, LET ME CLARIFY: there is a DIFFERENT bmw parked illegally in front of my garage every hour, and there are always sketchy characters hanging out just outside my bedroom window waiting to be let into my neighbor’s place… usually this starts around midnight… and then follows with continuous visits through the night, including a few customers on motorcycles who like to rev their engines at 3am once they’ve done their shopping. Last night I woke up because there was fighting outside my bedroom window about the agreed upon price… they are idiots and not good at hiding what they’re doing. Its $45 for an ounce, by the way. I would move, as smallduck suggests, except that they are new neighbors, and I have the best apartment I’ve seen in san francisco and I’m not moving. A little marijuana growing I can support, but this is getting annoying.

nocountry2's avatar

Anonymous tip to the cops sounds like your best bet, seriously. Don’t try to go “befriend” them and then call the cops, they’ll only know it was you. OR can you find out from other neighbors who owns the place and let them know? That’s probably the best thing you could do.

cheebdragon's avatar

what are the selling? If you are 150% positive that they are selling drugs then call wetip or go to the website, wetip.com you can send them a email and they notify the cops so that your totally annonymous.
The cops will come out in a week or 2 and talk to your neighbors, but I can’t stress enough how important it is that your positive they are selling drugs because a few months ago someone called wetip on me and told them that drugs were being sold from my house (I dont even have any asprin in my house) to try and get back at me for some stupid stuff I didn’t even do. But the cops came to my house and I had to stand in my front yard with my 2yrld son and be harassed and interrogated by the cops for 2 hours.

cheebdragon's avatar

Chances are the cops already know about the problem, especially if they are selling out of their house, it never takes long for those kinda dealers to get busted.

Poser's avatar

@cheebdragon—I hope you didn’t let them search your house without a warrant.

cheebdragon's avatar

Nope that’s why we were in the front yard
= )
they even tried to say “we just need to have a look around to make sure no one is going jump out and surprise us, just for our protection” but I told them “no one is going to surprise you because your not going inside”

Poser's avatar

Bravo. It always gives me a warm-fuzzy to hear about people exercising their constitutional rights (while we still have some of them). It’s why I get up in the morning.

cheebdragon's avatar

me too! Have you seen the flexyourrights movies?

Poser's avatar

Can’t say I have.

scamp's avatar

I’ve seen them. They are very good. A great reminder that we don’t have to do everything they ask us to do just because they are wearing the uniform.

poser~ go to flexyourrights.com or you can watch them on youtube
