More info? How did you discover you had it? Anti-virus? As far as I can tell, I don’t have it, and I’m trying to recreate the problem (if it’s on our end).

Did you reboot before posting this? If not, that’s my advice….REBOOT.

@coffeenut This is definitely a problem with your computer, not a problem with Fluther. If you have a cleaner, run it, then reboot.

My “geek” says, “not enough details…could be a ridiculous amount of variables” He says, update your anti-virus and run a scan.

I started my (clean) computer, restored my browser to Fluther, As soon as the page loaded, it flickered (Not responding) and I got no alert, so for the last little bit I looked Scan and a search and then deleted it.
Here is some info on the virus…

@coffeenut My husband says he doubts you got this from Fluther. You could have gotten it from your browser or your cookies-etc.

Here’s my husband to tell you the rest:

Download MalwareBytes’s excellent virus/spyware removal program AntiMalware from this link:

http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=5756

Click one of the links under ‘Download Locations’.

Install it, and make sure you ‘Update’ the program to the latest database version. Then, run a Quick Scan. Remove all selected items after the scan is complete, and reboot.

Give it a whirl…

I’m almost certain it didn’t come from Fluther. I’ve opened several times, and I’m not getting any hits in my anti-virus or from searching my system for the virus.

Heuteristic viruses don’t come from web pages. They come from shotty downloads.

@coffeenut I once caught the Windows anti-virus virus”, which basically comes from something you click on telling you that you have infected files on your computer, and poses as your anti-virus service asking you to do a scan, and when you click on it, it acts like it is scanning but is truly infecting your `puter.

@XOIIO I don’t know…..I was up until 2am searching my computer. The only download was a plug in update that happened when I first opened my browser to Fluther…. I don’t use torrents and thing like that any other download is scanned before downloaded and again after…. It’s weird….

@ladymia69 My virus protector blocks those.

any fake plug-ins ? its the top trojan route at the moment.
say NO to everything that wants to make changes to your PC and Get a good firewall

@SeaTurtle What paranoia? Going from a clean computer (scan everynight before bed) to opening a site Browser and Fluther and getting one I haven’t seen before….and not getting a alert…seems odd to me.

The plug in is for the browser and has been updated before with no problem…
