Where can I get a "novelty" id?

Asked by caly420 (546points) April 17th, 2008

Im 20 years old but have been offered a bartending job with this awesome catering company that pays $17.26 an hour plus tips and they said theyll give me the job as long as i can show them an id that says im 21 and has my picture on it. does anyone know of a reliable company where i can get one or does anyone have another idea?

That sort of sounds like a stupid idea. It’s not like using a fake ID to buy alcohol where it would simply be brushed off or you’d get a slap on the wrist — using a fake ID to get a job is very serious fraud that could get you in prison and ruin your credit rating if you get caught. I don’t think it’s worth it.

they know im underage, but said theyd give me the job since im family…i wont be serving liquor just beer and wine (which you can do at 18 in a typical restuarant here but because its catering its the owners preference as far as age goes and they have always set the standard at 21, but are willing to change it a bit since im the owners niece but to follow with the contract they set when they started the company i still have to show something that says im 21 and has my picture)

please dont respond if all your going to tell me is that its “fraudulent, etc” i will not be using it for any illegal purposes

I would still really reconsider: signing a contract under a false identity (an incorrect date of birth invalidates the whole ID) is a pretty serious crime, and it may be flagged. This isn’t about your employer finding it illegal, it’s about inspectors noticing a discrepancy if your employer is ever investigated for something like tax (which happens to businesses at random).

Signing a contract with a false ID is an illegal purpose, no matter who the contract is with or how much they may like you or not know that it’s illegal. (The first rule of common law: “ignorance is no excuse.”)

In other news.
