Are online portfolios "non-commercial"?

Asked by Russter (242points) March 27th, 2011

I want to use some things on the internet that I have found that are free for “non-commercial use”. I’m not sure if my online portfolio qualifies as non-commercial or not. I’m not trying to sell anything directly on my website but I will be linking to things like my .99 cent Android app. So am I free to use this non-commercial stuff or not?

If it’s a professional portfolio and you’re soliciting work, then it would be commercial.

If it’s a hobby, a site to show pictures of your kids, or something just for fun, then it’s not.

Basically if you’re hoping the site leads to money in your pocket, it would be commercial.

what do you mean by non-commercial? Is it a tax QA?
