I keep seeing this tree in front of my house in the middle of the road, I'm not sure if it's really there?

Asked by cliofaye (405points) April 2nd, 2011

I see it every night but by the morning it disappears so am I crazy or do I seriously have some ninja tree stalking me?

Google has replaced those Google Earth Street View Cars with ninja moving trees.
Nice catch!

You must be going blind.

Trick of the light?

Walk outside and look.

When you “see” it in the middle of the night, grab a flashlight and walk outside toward it.

If it’s not “there” when you get “there”, you’re imagining it.

Go back to bed and sleep.

Now, if the tree is there, and keeps saying, “I am Groot” – call Marvel comics and demand to speak to Stan Lee.

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

LOL!
Go outside and look!

cliofaye's avatar

I’m actually kinda too freaked to wanna go out there i mean what if it’s actually there what do I do then?

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

Invest in a chainsaw.

then make friends with it. :)

If it’s a magic tree, say “Hello, magic tree, how may I worship thee?” Then bow down three times. Oh and bring some pure spring water and pour that out over it’s roots and say, “A gift for thee, magic tree spirit, a token of my affection.” It may grant you wishes. Have you seen my neighbor totoro? Good times.

Or… it’s actually nothing but going outside and looking you’ll understand what’s going on.
You know, “Oh it’s… ____(something explainable and mundane.)

Try being schizophrenic. I see imaginary people stalking me! Hahaha. You’re probably just seeing a reflection or something.

FluffyChicken's avatar

What does the tree look like?

Probably a perspective trick.

If you’re worried about the tree actually being supernatural, bring a blowtorch. Fire has a good track record as an “evil suppressant,” and it’s always suitable for reigning in vegetation.

Watch for traffic on the road. If a vehicle crashes into the tree, then it’s really there. In that case, it could be an arboreal species known as the nocturnally ambulant amber.

If a vehicle drives through it without hitting it, then perhaps it’s a holographic projection.

cookieman's avatar

Do you live alone? Is there someone who can approach the tree with you?

An arborist perhaps.

FireMadeFlesh's avatar

Its not a tree, its Treebeard. I suggest you avoid wearing white and living in a stone tower. If you respect trees and don’t cut any down, you should be just fine.

chyna's avatar

If it’s an apple tree be careful. The tree can and will throw apples at people they don’t like.

jca's avatar

Go out and hug the tree.

blueiiznh's avatar

@chyna brought out a good point.
Now thinking of it, maybe it is one of those trees from the Wizard of OZ
It could even be the tree of the Munchkin Suicide
:)

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

Unless it’s an Ent,then it’s not real.;)

ninjaapantz's avatar

maybe the neighbours are messing with you & putting the tree out every night to save their parking spot.

gailcalled's avatar

Read “the Giving Tree” and then thank your tree. In fact, thank all trees.

MilkyWay's avatar

Maybe it’s an Alien species, that only comes out when dark?

cliofaye's avatar

Would it helpful if I said I live on a dead end road?

ninjaapantz's avatar

Best you go out & see if it’s really there & stop scaring yourself. Besides, if it’s there – it’s only a tree :)

Berserker's avatar

Lol ninja tree. It’s an ent! But eh seriously, if that happened to me, I’d go outside and look. :/

Ya know, I’m thinking your feelings about this might be too deeply rooted. Perhaps you should branch out and focus on other aberrations. Turn over a new leaf as it were. Don’t be afraid though. In many cases their bark is worse than their bite.

chyna's avatar

^^This is why I lurve this guy.

Jeruba's avatar

Full marks, @cprevite. Especially the last line.

faye's avatar

I’d love a tree friend. Go see it and invite it in.

Mariah's avatar

You should go look!

When you find out what’s going on, will you please, please report back to us? I’m terribly curious.

FluffyChicken's avatar

How about when you go outside? I was just wondering about this one…

cliofaye's avatar

It’s only there at night and i dont have much of a reason to go out there at night

Berserker's avatar

…other than to go check out if this tree is real or not?

cliofaye's avatar

You know how creepy that tree is? I dont wanna go out there! It’s going to eat me and and turn me into fertilizer!

Berserker's avatar

Lol that was pretty epic.
I don’t know then…I don’t believe in walking trees. (although there are interesting Celtic mythologies about stuff like that) Must be some supreme light trick, or something of the sort.

cliofaye's avatar

But it’s not walking. It’s just staring at me. Without eyes. It’s staring.

Berserker's avatar

I mean it presumably walks away or disappears when the day comes.

You’re just pulling our legs aren’t you? :p

Berserker's avatar

Maybe you or your family should call one of those paranormal investigators, if there are some in your area. I don’t know how hard it is to find people who investigate weird stuff like that, but they do exist. :/

cliofaye's avatar

They dont believe me though D:

Berserker's avatar

Get them to come and look at it.

FluffyChicken's avatar

For going outside?

cliofaye's avatar

No for telling her about the tree

Mariah's avatar

Will you please either go outside at night and figure out what you’re seeing, or stay up watching it till the crack of dawn and see where the heck it goes when the sun rises? Please? I need to know what this is. Hahaha

TexasDude's avatar

^ Me too.

Mariah's avatar

Yesssss, thank you.

Is it far away? Can you see it clearly? Do you have binoculars?

Response moderated (Writing Standards)
FluffyChicken's avatar

I must know. I will go crazy otherwise.

chyna's avatar

I think if you wanted to know bad enough, you’d go look.

cliofaye's avatar

@chyna i think if you saw this tree you wouldn’t.

FluffyChicken's avatar

What’s so creepy about it?

TexasDude's avatar

I think your tree may actually be slenderman.

cookieman's avatar

At this point, if you lived nearby, I’d come by with a flippin’ axe.

cliofaye's avatar

Where do you live? pleaseee do??

blueiiznh's avatar

is it an orange tree?

cliofaye's avatar

@blueliznh its a willow

FluffyChicken's avatar

Willow is an excellent tree! If willow is appearing to you like this, there is probably a reason. It’s a good idea to check out the spiritual properties of willow.
Here’s some info on the celtic views about willow. Native American teachings about willow are very similar. Native americans also built the frames to their sweat lodges out of willow, and relied on it for its analgesic properties.

Hahaha, I love this question!

Berserker's avatar

lol that was a random revival

FluffyChicken's avatar

This question was one of the first ones I saw when I first found fluther. I think about it more than I probably should.

blueiiznh's avatar

I dream about this tree also.

cliofaye's avatar

@FluffyChicken I’m glad I could make an impression

Mariah's avatar

@cliofaye Hey, you’re back! Did this ever get solved?

cliofaye's avatar

Sadly no it has has yet to be figured out. I moved into the lower level of my house about a year ago so I wouldn’t see the street it normally showed on but I was just moved back upstairs last week so I might start seeing it again. I’ll definitely let you all know!

Mariah's avatar

Cool, thanks!

blueiiznh's avatar

Appreciate the update.

cliofaye's avatar

Okay, so the tree is definintely still there….

chyna's avatar

What?! Yay! er, um, oh, sorry to hear that.
Can you get pictures?

cliofaye's avatar

@chyna I’ve tried but I can’t get anything clear with my phone
