What is your favorite style on certain occasions?

Asked by Quinnk123 (201points) April 6th, 2011

Out of curiosity, I want to know what style clothing or what cothes do you pair together on certain occasions. Some examples of occasions I want would be school, work, casual parties, formal parties, concerts, out to dinner, carnivals, etc…

I wear a suit and tie to the opera. I wear slacks and a sport coat with tie to a play on Broadway. I wear slacks and a sportcoat/blazer or sweater to a play on the west coast (Berkeley Rep).

Other times I wear dressy jeans and a sportcoat or sweater. I invariably wear a long sleeve shirt with button down collar, no matter what else I am wearing.

My work dress runs the gamut above, depending on whether meeting with clients are scheduled. We have different dress codes for different offices.

I have a grass green blazer and pants that used to be my grandfathers. That, green sunglasses and green Onitsuka Tigers compose my outfit of choice for St. Paddy’s Day.

and I’m not even Irish :D

Everyday: Jeans, retro white tennis shoes, and a polo, tee or some other comfy shirt.
A little dressier: Nice jeans or khakis, clogs or loafers, and a nicer (but still cotton-knit) shirt.
Dressy: Dress pants (maybe a skirt), fancy shirt, heels.
My wedding: White slinky gown and strappy heels.

I really dig jeans with a button-down shirt, not the dressy kind, the cool and breezy summer kind, with either boots, huaraches or converse, but most of the time I just wear a t-shirt because I have a lacking of those type of shirts. To dress up, though, usually black on black shirt, shoes and slacks with a bright tie (tied with the ediety knot) and a black vest and/or jacket on occasion.

I enjoy “overdressing,” for pretty much all occasions, as a general rule. Eclectic semi-formal, is my go to look. Dressing up is nice, but sometimes there are exceptions to that rule. When I am more rurally bound I do enjoy dressing down.

Most of the time, I’m at home, so I’ll just wear my pj’s or a t shirt and sweatpants. When I’m going out, I usually like to wear black capris with layering tank tops and sandals. Maybe a hoodie with a full zipper and a hood in case it gets chilly wherever I’m going.

I normally don’t like dressing up, I’m more of a casual person. But if I’m going to dinner, I’ll wear black capris and a nice shirt, no tank tops.
