What is my survey .com?

Asked by killerkadoogen (426points) April 7th, 2011

So as a joke I did a survey about drinks on my survey.com. They actually mailed me a smartphone that has a survey app on it. They want me to document everything I drink for two weeks. You cannot use the phone for anything else. Has anyone else done this before? Do they actually pay you to do this? If so how much?

Has anyone else done this before? No, never heard of anyone doing such a thing.
Do they actually pay you to do this? I don’t know, sounds like a scam to me.
If so how much? Maybe. After you pay them $1,000, they’ll pay you $1.

I trust only a handful of the survey sites.

The best one in my experience is mturk.com ... Its a subdivision of Amazon.

I’ve done some googling and most reviews say they’re legitimate. Check whether they actually pay you, or if they just enter your name into a prize draw.

Are you saying “mysurvey.com”?
Yes they are legit. They were formerly known as NFO MySurvey (National Family Opinion) the company has been in business since 1946 and online since 95.

I use mysurvey.com and I have collected $15 cash from them thus far, deposited into my Paypal account.

Most of the time they just send surveys, but sometimes they send you an invitation to try out a new product which they will mail to you then get your opinion on, or an invitation to track your purchasing habits over a period of time. I think the going rate of surveys is 50 cents for each survey that you qualify for and complete, but I’m sure something like that would earn more of a reward.

@tedd: this site is so interesting! I can’t wait to play around and learn more about it. Are all of these legit??

Sounds alarms with me. I would advocate caution. Read the small print. If there’s no need to get involved with it, don’t.

@SamIAm All of the ones I’ve done have been legit, but I strictly stick to surveys (none of the “type up this” or “translate this” stuff… though I’ve no reason to doubt they will work as well). Some of them are poorly designed and don’t work, but I’ve done around 125 and probably had 4–5 not work correctly.

@tedd I’d love to join that site. :) How do you distinguish surveys from other things?

you can do a search at the top of the page and enter “survey” as the keyword
