How does a video clip get from TV/DVD to youtube?

Asked by YoKoolAid (2424points) April 10th, 2011

So I was watching The Muppets Take Manhatten on tv and missed the song “Saying Goodbye” so I went to youtube to look for it but it’s not there. It got me thinking of how a clip gets onto youtube.

I’m pretty sure if I owned the DVD I could just pop it in my computer and there’s a software program out there that can convert it to a format compatible to upload onto youtube….Do I have that right? If so, is that the only way?

There are plenty of DVD ripping programs, but it is illegal to upload video clips to youtube without getting permission from the copyright holders. DVDFab 8 is the best program for ripping and cloning DVD’s. I use it to clone my favorite DVD’s for when the disc gets wrecked.

There are several ways. First, there are dvd recorders, that record tv shows directly to disc. Then there are receivers with hard drives where tv shows can be directly stored. Hook those up to a pc, and you can transfer them. Lastly, there are TV cards that you can install into your PC, enabling you to record TV shows directly to your computer.
Of course there is always the old style method of sitting in front of the TV with a video camera.

Hi, just try some special editing and clipping software to help you. Such as Advanced Video editing 3.0.0.9.
