Can someone please help me come up with a surname for one of my fictional characters?

Asked by weeveeship (4665points) April 11th, 2011

I’m creating a character and I am looking for a good last name for her. Details below:

First Name: Paula
Side: Protagonistic (Supporting Character)
Occupation: Student
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Blue
Positive Traits: compassionate, highly ethical, smart
Negative Traits: naive, shy, not pragmatic enough
Ethnicity: English American

CRITERIA FOR NAME (not shouting, caps for emphasis)
1. No “Jones” or “Abdul” as the last name. Please.
2. Last name should be of English origin and must be a last name that is used in real life (no “Skywalker”)
3. If possible, last name should reflect personality. However, don’t make it too obvious. (e.g. no “Loving” or “Smart”)
4. Don’t make it offensive.

Many thanks.

Latin is the father of all languages and is used in real life. It’s up to you if you like it, or try Starkiller haha

Your description describes my old neighbor. She was my neighbor for 16 years, and her 29 year old son recently died in a tragic accident. So sad. :(

She had the same first name , last name Crosswhite. She was very compassionate, ethical, smart and shy. wow

I would pick something with a snappy sound.
e.g. Paula Clarke. (I also like Paula Clifton)

You can also browse the most common English surnames here
And see if there are any that you like. e.g., Paula Kingsley. Paula Wright.

Goodall (very English, says exactly what it is and brings to mind the kind Jane Goodall who studied chimps in Africa).

I would name her Paula…Hartley.

As in ‘having plenty of heart’.

Well, at least that’s what I think it could mean.

Yeps. 8^)
