Does $1,000 seem right for tax preparation?

Asked by probably (7points) April 20th, 2008

This year I started my own corporation for my consulting business. Last year my CPA charged $250 to prepare my 2006 individual tax filings. This year he charged $1000, including my 2007 individual and corporate filings. That seems like a lot of money to me, but forming a corporation saved me thousands of dollars. My CPA did a great job, but I’d like to know if I’m getting a deal or getting ripped off.

i don’t know how complicated your individual or corporate tax filings were but the price seems about right to me… i pay about $250 for my individual filings and about $750 – $800 for my corporate filings on average.

I think you got a good deal for both the 1040 and 1120. Did that include a state filing also?

Yes, it included the state filings as well. I’m feeling good about what I paid since it is almost exactly what Aloha pays!

We pay $2500 for our corp taxes. You got a good deal.
