Can someone help me with quick time for mac?

Asked by Jeremycw1 (1370points) April 14th, 2011

I just bought Quick Time Pro (registration key) and I found out I have Quick Time X instead of Quick Time 7. How can I use Quick Time Pro on my mac?

After the last big OS update, Quicktime 7 was moved to the Utilities folder. When in Finder/desktop, press Shift, Command, U, to open the Utilities folder.

It wasn’t in my utilities folder when I looked :( All I have is “QuickTime Player” in my Applications folder. I have Mac OS X 10.6.7, so I don’t know what the deal is… I should have quicktime already installed

You could download it again & then apply the QT Pro registration key.

EDIT: Do you have the OS install discs? I believe you can install QT 7 that way.

Yep, tried that too. But when I tried installing it, it said I already had quick time x installed (I searched and searched and couldn’t find it) So I guess I’ll just have to call Apple Support… Thanks so much for your help though.

@rpm_pseud0name I do have the disks, but I think they also come with QuickTime X.

I think I found the solution… download QT from here & it should work. Give it a try. You don’t get that error about QT already being on the computer when installing. It will install QT to the Utilities folder.

I’ll have to try that. I might even end up having to delete my current quick time… but something has to work haha

Update: I tried downloading from your link, and it worked! I now have QT7 on my mac. I went to “QuickTime Player 7” then to “Register” so I could register my PRO software. That’s where I’m having problems now. I enter in my product key, and nothing happens. No “confirm” or “register” buttons appear, it’s just a box. So I’m almost there…

I don’t believe there are any pop-up confirmation windows. Just type in the info & then close the window & restart Quicktime. The Pro features should now be unlocked.

Well, I tried that. I don’t know if it worked, I don’t notice anything different. I still says QuickTime 7 at the top…. so I’m not sure if it worked or not. I hope so.
