What is a way to make money?

Asked by Quinnk123 (201points) April 15th, 2011

I have been searching for a job for a long time but I have not been hired. I need money to pay my rent and I just cannot seem to find a way to make money fast. What are some quick and easy ways to make money fast?

Raking lawns, mowing grass, cleaning gutters… Not fun, but it’s stuff that has to be done around the yard in springtime!

No help at the employment service?

Well, let’s start backwards: are there things you’re not willing to do?

Cut every last unnecessary luxury.

Look for jobs in places you wouldn’t expect. Contrary to popular belief, nobody is above working at McDonald’s or Wal Mart if it means putting food on the table and getting the bills paid.

Sell stuff you don’t need.

@Seelix has the right idea. Post signs around town offering handyman services, but be specific, i.e., “Weeding”, “Lawn Mowing”, “Tree Trimming”, Trash Hauling”. Also, are there any moving companies around? A lot of movers will hire temporary or short term workers.

I agree with all above and if you are having difficulties finding jobs right now, while you are working at these odd jobs of if you get a job to get by I would suggest taking classes or something you are interested in. I am right now taking Real Estate Classes an plan to become an agent, I figure the housing market will eventually turn around and in the mean time I will learn as I go. I will work for Century 21 you don’t make as much in commission but the one I am going to they share the listings with everyone regardless of siniority so you have potential to make money quicker and you are learning at the same time. Once you have things underway you can move on to something where commissions are 100% but you pay each month for office space and fees that way, which will increase how much you are actually taking home. This I found worked for me, but you may want to look for something else that will work for you where you may need additional training in order to get a position. – Good Luck

Get a part time job while you start a business on the side. McDonald’s national hiring day is April 19th and they’re hiring like 10,000 people…

You could also post an ad on Craigslist offering your services as a handyman/moving helper/ household odd jobs.

When I’ve needed help with moving, carrying boxes etc. I’ve hired people posting ads of this type.

Never had a problem and it worked out fine for both of us.
