Are there any good fitness clubs in northwest Philadelphia for 30-somethings?

Asked by marin_richeson (5points) April 21st, 2008

I’m looking for a place with great group classes that cater to folks like me; somewhere between “Striptease Sweat” to Brittany Spears and “Low Impact Cardio” to the Beach Boys…

Where in NW Philly? One of my step-sons (aged 44) is a certified trainer and works at a good gym in Philly.(Conshohoken, Manayunk, possibly). I can find out where if you like. Or he may have some recommendations.

Ideally Mount Airy, but anywhere within a few miles would be okay.

I’ll check. He and his bros and mom grew up in Mt. Airy and I and his father in East Falls.

When I find some info, I’ll comment you privately.OK.

@gailcalled: If your “connections” can recommend any good gyms in Northeast Philly, I’d appreciate that as well… my beau lives there and I may move in over the summer. I especially want a place with a good swimming pool and/or yoga instructors. Thanks!

NO answers to my email, guys. I’ll let know you if and when I have any news. Heartkat: where in NE Philly? The city is such a sprawl.

He’s in the Mayfair section close to the Tacony-Palmyra bridge. Yes, it IS such a sprawl, and I’m having quite a time trying to learn it!

Ladies; my step-son fell off his mountain bike, broke his collar bone in three places and is not reading any mail of any kind now. Sorry. I’ll keep trying, however.

OUCH!!! Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery!!

The LA Fitness in Ft.Washington is great. There’s always open equipment and the staff is very helpful. There’s a counseler there named Elise, she’s known for giving better (cheaper) membership rates.
