Trying to find an old Coke (Coca-Cola) commercial from the 1970's...help?

Asked by DarlingRhadamanthus (11273points) April 28th, 2011

I am trying to find a Coke TV commercial from the 1970’s that played in the USA. It pictured this nerdy looking girl (wearing glasses) that wants to be a cheerleader. She drinks a Coke and is transformed and makes the squad.—-I know, I know life used to be that simple, eh?—

I’m not having a lot of luck….anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance everyone.

I have been searching for this commercial for years also! I love coke commercials and this was one of my favorites. I was beginning to believe it didn’t exist! So glad to hear someone else remembers it too! I’ll keep searching and let you know if I have any luck!

Answering an older question, best as possible, I seem to remember this commercial also. Believe it was part of the “Coke Adds Life” campaign circa. 1977–78. The “nerdy looking girl” was basically a pretty blonde “beauty in waiting” “wearing glasses,” hair in bun, long skirt. She also apparently wanted to date a football player (who shunned her at first) but got more help than just drinking a Coke. The other cheerleaders were sympathetic to the point of giving her a makeover, taking her glasses off, letting her hair down etc. She then indeed “makes the squad,” now the football player was interested yet the newly minted cheerleader turns her back on him (briefly) for a bit of balance in the “relationship.” However, she of course relents by the end and the couple are shown sitting together in the stands.

Good commercial. It may not be shown on Youtube with the other “Coke Adds Life” ads, and there were many of them, due to its length. It was with its plot somewhat longer, still searching.
