Are you celebrating anything this weekend?

Asked by Mamradpivo (9665points) April 30th, 2011

It seems like everyone has holidays this weekend. Today is Queen’s Day in the Netherlands, yesterday was a holiday in the UK for the royal wedding, a lot of nations will celebrate May Day tomorrow.

Does your country or community have a celebration this week? If so, how will you observe it?

I’ll go first: I attended my first Queen’s Day celebration in Amsterdam. The whole city was one drunken mass of people. There were DJs on every corner, giant concerts in the park, people selling everything under the sun: from appliances to bong rips (€2 each), old clothes to home-cooked meals. Apparently it gets crazier at night, but I’m boring so I headed home.

If anyone asks, the nation of the Netherlands does not remember what it did this weekend, but it’s pretty sure it had a fun time.

Nope. No holidays where I live. I’m celebrating other things this weekend though.

Nope but I am filling in for other people who want a 3 day weekend so it goes to my “mad $” stash.

I was just looking forward to a long weekend relaxing, before returning to work on Tuesday.. :-/
Well, I got the relaxing bit sorted, I just came down with a heavy cold on Thursday & I’m still reluctant to leave the house…. Let alone my bed! :-/

Also I have really bad cramps as I am writing this! :(

No, but kinda….my mom is in town visiting and brought the dog, I am beyond thrilled….we just had the best natural organic steaks I’ve ever had….I have never tasted anything so tender and flavorful. Long story short, I’m celebrating LIFE!
