Should I pinch suckers off my tomato plants even though they've gotten big and now have blossoms on them?

Asked by lilakess (789points) June 9th, 2007
We were away for a month and I missed the chanced to pinch off suckers early. Now they're huge and laden with blossoms, but I was wondering if it might be worth it to do it now for more tomatoes later on. Or is it better just to let it go.

The only disadvantage of suckers is that the more you have, the less the tomatoes will weigh. The more suckers you have, the more tomatoes you will harvest, although they will be smaller. Your choice.

Will cherry tomatoes shrink in size if the suckers remain?
