Do you go out intentionally when the weather is nice and what do you love to do?

Asked by mazingerz88 (28796points) May 11th, 2011

Summer is here and certainly a lot of people will do a lot of things outside. But I’m also certain there is a number of folks who do not care that much and would go on with their normal lives as usual. In which group do you belong?

Love to be outdoors in the nice weather, give me the sunny beautiful days anytime.

When the temperature is above 60F, my patio becomes my all-purpose room. You’ll find me out there from early morning ‘til long after dark.

Outside! In the sun! Half naked if possible! Seriously, I need my vitamin D, and the sun lifts my mood. Sometimes I fluther outside. On the weekend eat at a restaurant al fresco. When I lived in FL I was outside all of time, we had a TV on the back patio, ate meals there when people came over we sat out there, swam. Not that I live more north it suck actually, in terms of climate. If I can sell my flipping house and build a new one with a big screened in patio I will be outside all of the time again.

I do go out solely because the weather is nice. If no one is available, I’ll even go somewhere by myself. I just can’t stay inside when I have nothing to do when the sun is shining through my windows and I can hear people outside doing stuff. I feel like that kid who’s grounded and has to watch everyone playing outside lol. I usually just go to the beach.

@JLeslie I jammed all your first sentences together and somehow came up with the image of you eating at a restaurant “au naturel” What a delightfully liberal community you live in!

syz's avatar

Oh, yeah. Hiking, camping, even yard work.

deni's avatar

If it’s sunny out and I’m not working, I’m out in the yard with a book and minimal clothing on, bathing in the rays. I also enjoy a good sweaty hike or bike ride, sitting by the creek, wading around once it gets warm enough…...oh god how I yearn for summer. Today it is 34 degrees, pouring rain, and we have a WINTER STORM WARNING, NO IM NOT KIDDING.

mazingerz88's avatar

@deni sorry to hear that. Come over here in DC, it’s great today! Lol

@mazingerz88 I hear the east coast is havin some beeeautiful weather. Really wish I was out cartwheeling through a field right now.

mazingerz88's avatar

@deni cartwheeling while flying a great big kite, I wonder if that could be done…hmm…

I was outside constantly as soon as it was warmer than 55 degrees outside regularly.

No.
I used to.
Now this weather makes me cranky and extra neurotic and miserable. I want to go out and enjoy it, but it just makes me unhappy.

There is a reason why I put “outdoors lover” in my profile. I would much rather be outside, even during a snowstorm. My husband and I have spent the last two evenings sitting outside listening to music and playing with my daughter in the water sprinkler. We’ve had a miserably cold and rainy spring, but yesterday it was sunny and the temp reached 93. We took advantage of the warm weather before it starts raining again tomorrow.

@Blueroses In a bikini. I would at least have on a bikini if I were eating.

faye's avatar

I love being outside, gardening, camping, sitting around the firepit in my yard.

I like writing (music) outside. It seems to be he most inspirational place to write, especially the common. My greatest of ideas have been sparked there, it’s like magic. I also like just walking around the neighborhood area and the common, too, and watching sports be played there.

We only get about 2 months of good weather here in rainy England, so I’m definitley in the “Go out when it’s sunny” category. I usually go to the park with some friends to sit around benches, have some ice cream, check out the hot boys and just soak up the sun. ^_^

marinelife's avatar

Take a walk.
Go on a picnic.
Go for a drive.

I love the outdoors ..but I’m very sensitive to sunlight. I get migraines and itchy skin. If it’s really sunny and hot, I usually will not be found outside.

Outdoors as much as possible when the weather is nice. I love to go on long walks with my dog. Unfortunately now she’s elderly and this is going to be the first summer that she can’t do that any more.

Kardamom's avatar

I love to go hiking in the mountains and the desert and I love to take landscape photos. Me and one of my friends particularly love walkig on the beach and gossiping and kvetching. That’s our therapy.

Can’t wait for a summer camping trip!

@downtide One of my neighbors has a sweet elderly dog. He has a stroller that was especially made for dogs. It has a platform with a mesh-screen pet carrier attached to it. So he pushes his doggy around the block in the stroller and the dog can see out because of the mesh screen. He occasionally stops and lifts the doggy out to tinkle, then puts him right back in and they continue their walk. I smiled and wept when I first saw them together. They’ve been going strong like this for about 3 years. Maybe you could find something like this : )

I love to be outside in any weather. I love getting soaked to the bone, I love tromping through snow, I love walking in sunshine. The only time I hate being outside is in the prime mosquito hours.

AmWiser's avatar

I go out intentionally when the weather is bad. It’s like I have the whole world to myself. Although I do love a good summer rain.

SABOTEUR's avatar

I prefer the rain.

Summer/“beautiful weather” obligates me to cutting grass and slaving offer a hot barbeque…
...both of which I would gladly do without.

Blueroses's avatar

I love cutting the grass and smelling meat on a hot grill so, invite me over @SABOTEUR

SABOTEUR's avatar

@Blueroses If I wasn’t such a grouch and a loner, I could easily see us being very good friends.

Blueroses's avatar

@SABOTEUR as it happens, I like to cut the grass and tend the grill with my ipod on LOUD so companionship isn’t a requirement. Provide me with blended drinks or beer, quietly and we’ll be fine friends.

SABOTEUR's avatar

@Blueroses (smiling) That would be wonderful, but my conscious wouldn’t allow it. I would feel as if I’m using you and I’d berate myself for allowing you to do what I’m supposed to be doing. I get enough of that around here for having to pay repairmen for stuff.

(I’m not what you’d call a do-it-yourself-er.)

ddude1116's avatar

I’m outside a lot more now, thanks to the warm ground and Allegra-D. Winter’s fine for walking, if it isn’t dark, but sprawling out on the ground in the sun totally blows after you lose feeling in your extremities. So yes, I’m purposefully outside more in summer, just sitting somewhere and reading or sleeping.

faye's avatar

I just watched a show that joked about Canada’s summer being a week and a half long. I guess I better get outside!

Plucky's avatar

Lol @faye…sadly, that’s what it feels like these days.
