What colors would you use on this covered patio with knotty pine ceiling?

Asked by Aster (20023points) May 15th, 2011

The patio has a gray hot tub with an ivory “railing” around the top in vinyl. There is a red brick wall on one end and the ceiling is natural colored pine. The walls , which are limited because of huge windows, are natural colored cedar. We are going to paint the brick wall a neutral color and put tile on the cement floor. What color would you paint the brick wall and what color tiles would you buy?
I am thinking of either white or brown wicker chairs but Im not positive about using wicker at all for a Key West or Victorian look. So can you help me out with colors? The gray hot tub takes up about ⅓ of the room!! It has a gray vinyl cover on top.

How bout some shade of green (either dark green or a lighter green) so it echoes the outdoors?

I’d love to post a picture but since I never do it , it would take me forever to figure it out! Gray cement floors will be tile of some color, huge screened window openings, two red brick walls to be painted (one with 3 den windows on it, neutral knotty pine ceiling, gray hottub, yard with shrubs and there are roses against a black metal fence in the distance (not that big of a yard). Front of patio has lots of big shrubs. thanks!!!

Sage green or sunflower yellow.

@jca thanks!
@Cruiser thanks!
Probably after the bricks are painted I’ll have a much better perspective and be able to decide.(:
I want to keep things light because we’ll have black screens . We have 2 of those ceilng thingies—why can’t I think of words anymore? Skylights. That’s it. They really let in a lot of light.

The red brick wall I would have concrete mixed with a dull lemon shade and smeared on for glossy look like (ivory vinly railing around top of tub). Have tiles in predominately ivory, grey, knotty pine color, natural cedar pine color, surround a dull lemon shade tile. Furniture in an eggplant color,pale pumpkin, or grey.

@Hallelujah thanks; you sound like a decorator! I am most intrigued with your tile suggestion: ivory, gray and natural cedar colors. That’ll be a tall order to find those! In fact, I will put the colors in my purse so I’ll have them when we go look. I am leaning towards a light tan/cream on the walls and hope it won’t be TOO light. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Wasted cash on a gallon of creamy colored paint and it sticks out like a lightbulb on that wall. I don’t know what to do. ))-; Have to go much darker I guess. Then it might look like a cave!!
