General Question

When working in excel on my mac, I want to chose File, Send To, and have it use my default email app to send the file (entourage). The mail app overides this though. Any ideas?

I’ve gone in to the mail app and have changed the default email reader to entourage, but this still happens. I looked for a feature under preferences in excel and word, and am still out of luck. Any suggestions?

Did you also click “Set Entourage to be my default email client” the general tab in Entourage preferences?

If that doesn’t work, I think you have found a bug, or as Microsoft would say, an “Undocumented Feature”.

It may also help to set Entourage as your default email app in Mail.app’s preferences. Entourage should be able to do the same thing, but Mail.app can definitely change the system-wide default email app. Mail > Preferences > General > Default email reader.

according to the help in excel :
Jaguar (Mac OS X v10.2.8 or later)
1. On the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Internet.
2. Click the Email tab.
3. On the Default Email Reader pop-up menu, click the program you want to use.
4. If you don’t see the program you want to use in the list, click Select.
Locate and double-click the e-mail program you want to use.

I don’t know if this will help or not.

@ Bri – Believe this was moved to the Mail preferences not long after Jaguar.

AH, I didn’t know if it was in the browser as well and microsoft was being a dufuss about it.

Thanks!

Actually, it is the end of May. Been studying though. Thanks!

Dang, none of these awesome suggestions are doing the trick. Had no idea this would be a stumper.

Hmmm, doing the same thing to me. I don’t use Entourage, but I had it setup for some testing. I dunno.

Appreciate ya checking it out though.

What about a third party program for setting defaults? I wonder if that would work.

I was having the same problem. After setting it in Mail… Preferences, you must shut down mail.app and excel. After you reopen them it should work fine.

No luck spipes. Thanks though.
