How many people have 20k, 30k and 40k in lurve?

Asked by Pele (2644points) May 20th, 2011

Just curious… How people have that much lurve and still use Fluther?

Well, there are two of us that have more than 40,000 points: me and wundayatta.

And a handful that have more than 30,000: augustlan, jeruba, janbb, astrochuck among them.

Lots more have more than 20,000.

Pele's avatar

Woah, only 2 have 40k? Crazy. How old is Fluther?

Vunessuh's avatar

If you go to your awards page and then click on “explore the awards” you can see the exact number of users that have achieved each milestone.
175 users have 10k.
39 users have 20k.
9 users have 30k.
2 users have 40k.

It’s seems like a tiny community.

@Pele Fluther is older than your pet turtle.

Vunessuh's avatar

I ate her pet turtle. I did it under the orange tree.

erichw1504's avatar

@Vunessuh But did you apply the moisturizer?

Pele's avatar

Turtle?

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

@Vunessuh Don’t lie! The turtle is alive and well in the frizzer.

erichw1504's avatar

@WillWorkForChocolate and it ate all the pancakes.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

@erichw1504 No it didn’t. I hid most of the pancakes in the crispers. Bwuahahahahaha!

wundayatta's avatar

But did you eat her pet turtle under the orange tree? It’s not just any old orange tree, and I hate to tell you, but it isn’t in California. Unless, of course, it is.

Seelix's avatar

OH MY GOD THIS ORANGE TREE THING IS MAKING ME CA-RAAAAZY! I just want in on the joke.

Pele's avatar

@Seelix me too.
The funny thing is that I actually have an orange tree in my back yard. The fruit doesn’t come ‘till November. What’s the turtle thing?

marinelife's avatar

@Pele Fluther dates back to 2006. Here is an article that tells you a little about the history of the site.

erichw1504's avatar

The turtle is actually from [REDACTED], because [REDACTED]. So, now you know!

Pele's avatar

Why thank you @marinelife

wundayatta's avatar

Under the powers vested in me by the Great Council, I formally give @Seelix and @Pele formal dispensation to formally use “under the orange tree” in appropriate situations.

Pele's avatar

haha @wundayatta thank you

blueiiznh's avatar

I thought the orange tree was a disguise for the turtles living under it.

blueiiznh's avatar

Didn’t Michelangelo wear the orange mask?

erichw1504's avatar

In the list of top questions, “What is the orange tree?” now trumps “What is the answer to life?”

People with over 40k lurve are entitled to create and promote Fluther-memes at their whims.
Under the Orange Tree.
I’m still pushing for “brb dinner” but I lack the clout

erichw1504's avatar

I’m waiting for nekked pancake parties to go mainstream.

Blueroses's avatar

@erichw1504 I don’t know about mainstream.. These things always start out as a bit of fun; a few friends, some butter, some syrup… Then somebody gets the bright idea of forming a multilevel marketing scheme teaching others how they, too, can become millionaires by hosting nekkid pancake parties in their own homes. Soon, your old high school algebra teacher is trying to get you to sign up in his downline and you stop answering your phone.
Eventually, they’ll find you huddled in a corner, clutching a bottle of Log Cabin, quietly moaning “Why…why…”

erichw1504's avatar

@Blueroses You’re probably right. I should be careful with throwing these nekked pancake parties. Don’t want anybody to get hurt, especially your mom.

Cruiser's avatar

@Pele Everybody “has” lurve…it is the currency of Fluther and freely traded usually for chocolate cake, pancakes or yarn! Just watch out for the squirrels who will steal your lurve when you are not looking!

YARNLADY's avatar

@Pele The low lurve score is due to the limit that each person has to receive from each other person. Only 100 lurve can be added to your score by each user, after they have given you their limit, the lurve they give you doesn’t accumulate on your score.

blueiiznh's avatar

@yarnlady. I disagree. Unless you are joking and then I agree.

YARNLADY's avatar

@blueiiznh Um, what is there to disagree with? As a personal example, I went up in the thousands of lurve every few weeks at first, then in the 10,000’s a lot less often. I have been stuck at just under 30,000 now for weeks on end.

filmfann's avatar

To the question: there are several individuals who hit 10 or 20 K, and have left the site.
As for me, I cannot abondon my goal to GET MORE LURVE THAN YARNLADY!!!!

rooeytoo's avatar

I am stuck at just under 20k. Note to self, devote MORE time to fluther and LESS time to work!

_zen_'s avatar

I started at 40k and am going backwards.

wundayatta's avatar

@zen Surely you have reached nearly 10K at least five or six times?

Blueroses's avatar

@zen is trying to approach the unapproachable lurve. Where negative meets positive in an all-accepting/all-knowing place. He could have had 40k by now. He chooses to reset so that his lurve counts (in both directions)

_zen_'s avatar

It doesn’t matter how many times I quit before 5 or 10k – it isn’t an indication of anything because of the 100 lurve cap per jelly. Those like @wundayatta who have reached 30 and 40 k, besides having been here (in some cases) longer than I, deserve all the lurve they got.

erichw1504's avatar

I once had 10,563 lurve and 20,199 lurve at the same time.
