What's your opinion on music of the fifties?

I’m just curious what your opinions might be on 50’s early 60’s music would be. Do you think that music preformed in the 1950’s was the foundation of music for the future? Rock ‘n’ roll was just coming into swing, along with country western. With the help of Jerry Lee Lewis, and Chuck Berry, rock ‘n’ roll was starting out for the better. Just feel free to express your opinions on what you liked or disliked about music in the fifties, or compare it to modern day music, thanks! :)
