What global connections can you make from being dependent on technology?

I can only think of how America is becoming dependent on it and how it’s affecting present, future, and older generations. I’m finding it difficult to connect it globally. The only thing I can think of is are third world countries going to find it hard to keep up, or are people losing jobs becuase machines can take over. Any ideas or suggestions?
