What's your favorite classic slapstick move?

Asked by sliceswiththings (11723points) May 24th, 2011

Today, I stepped on a rake and the handle flew up and hit me square in the face.

This got me thinking about all my favorite slapstick moves, mainly that one and the one where you’re holding a board and you turn and knock someone over with it.

What’s yours? Please include links to youtube videos if you happen to find them :)

I like the way you can put it on your lips when it’s cold out and it totally prevents chapping.

The Marx Brothers in A Night at the Opera

This version has the advantage of subtitles in Spanish

Joe E. Brown and Jack Lemmon tango in Some Like it Hot.

Wait for the dip.

The Dick Van Dyke Show opening. When it changed to this, it was even funnier.

This.

Sorry to rub it in, but it really is my favorite.

I haven’t seen it, yet, but from the trailer, I am guessing “Bridemaids”.

@sliceswiththings, I think people are reading your “moves” as “movies.”

Blueroses's avatar

Oh, you’re so right @Jeruba! I was about to post a link to a film until you pointed that out.
Now I’m going to have to cast another vote for pie in the face.

I’m not sure if it’s a classic move…but I like it when people walk into glass doors or glass walls (without them smashing of course).

I often “keg” people when they are off their guard, it’s a hobby!

SERIAL MOM “Is that slap stick?”

How about the hockey movie “Slap Stick”. That’s pretty Slapstick.

The classic two-eye finger poke. And it’s counter-move, of course.

SavoirFaire's avatar

@Poser Definitely my second favorite!

Schroedes13's avatar

@Poser I’m with Poser. Moe and Curly from the Three Stooges perfected it. I love the attempted two eye finger poke, Curly’s counter, then Curly’s kind of chuckle/laugh, then Moe just poking him in both with separate hands!
