How do you find out where an old stupid law came about and why?

I know about the stupid laws site what I want is to find is a site that can tell me why and when some of these stupid laws came from.

You have to look at the statutes for the jurisdiction. All laws that are passed are public record. That, however, doesn’t mean that they are on the Internet for public viewing. Old laws may often only be referenced in print. LexisNexis is a subscription service that law firms use to do research.
