Are you watching the Stanley Cup Playoffs?

Asked by Plucky (10316points) June 1st, 2011

Just wondering if anyone else is watching the playoffs.

If so, which team are you cheering for?

Vancouver Canucks are my second favourite team ..so, naturally, I’m cheering them. :)

I’m watching them now.

As an ex-Canadian who lived in Vancouver, and whose father and brother were born there, I’m wishing best of luck to the Canucks!

Sabres are my Eastern conference team and main team, but the ‘Nucks are my Western conference team. Go ‘Nucks Go!

…and of course I’m watching.

I thought, for sure, the first posts would be Boston fans ..lol.

Good to see some Canuck fans. :)

Alright- Vancouver wins the first game, 1–0. :-)

Of course I am! I’m cheering for Boston, though.

<All of Canada goes silent and glares disapprovingly at Seelix>

It’s less about the teams for me than it is the players. Tim Thomas has worked his ass off to make it this far, and I really want to see him win a Cup. I was cheering for Tampa for the same reason – Dwayne Roloson has done amazing things for the Lightning and at 41, he doesn’t have much time left, if any. I really wanted to see Tampa make the final. There are quite a few players on the team that I love – Lecavalier, St. Louis, Roloson, Stamkos… (Aside: I got to see Stamkos score his first natural hat trick in Florida a couple of years ago!)

Anyway, there are just too many Vancouver players I don’t like. I’ll be happy to see the Cup back in Canada if the Canucks can pull it off, but my heart is with Boston and that handsome, handsome Andrew Ference. Oh, and who doesn’t love a feisty, hardworking Irishman?

@Seelix Yes, I understand about cheering on certain players….but I’m still going to glare at you.

If I could stay awake beyond the end of the first period, I’d be watching more of the playoffs. Stupid job making me get up at 5:30AM!

I am torn about who I want to win. Boston is an “original six” team, so there’s sentimental value. However, I grew up and still am a Sabres fan. Good taste there, @amujinx So cheering for Boston is difficult. I watched Christian Ehrhoff play some in the AHL, so that makes it okay with me if Vancouver wins. Of course, I watched Johnny Boychuk in the AHL too, so I’m back to being torn!

Game 7….in less than an hour!

I’m going to, yep! After I get back from Lacrosse. :)

Damn- Bruins are up 3–0 at the end of the 2nd period. :/

Well, that sucked.

Plucky's avatar

Well, the Bruins played a pretty good game. Canucks just didn’t have it tonight. The first period was pretty exciting though. Grats to both teams for the great playoffs ..and grats to Boston for the win. :)
