Does anyone have a song special and specific to a time in your life?

Asked by BeccaBoo (2725points) June 6th, 2011

I am a huge massive fan of music, but there are certain songs that are linked to poignant times in my life IE: my kids being born, my wedding day (to my ex) the day I left home etc etc.

But there is one song that just gets me. I am not a fan of the band but the words in the song

When I got divorced, it was the most scary time of my life, not only had I lost my best friend, but the unit that made my family. I remember getting into the car after signing my divorce papers, I was in floods of tears and at a complete loss because this was so final. I switched on the radio and this song started to play, as he started singing my ears pricked up and I listened. I stopped crying and pulled myself together and just thought, ‘yeah I am not going to cry anymore, I can do this’.
To this day, if ever i hear it, it always makes me smile.

The song is Duran Duran – Ordinary World

So what’s yours? Whats the story behind it?

Not a specific song, but I was listening to Celtic Thunder yesterday, and it reminded me of my old hippie days when we used to sit around a campfire and sing, or dance to fiddle music.

My emotional song is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=if-biYJUy5k I can feel my body react every time I hear this song. Long story behind what it means to me.

My husband asked me to marry him by singing Can I Have This Dance For the Rest of My Life in my ear as we laid in bed talking.
