Is my wife a yard workaholic?

Asked by john65pennington (29258points) June 6th, 2011

You would think that after being married to this nice lady for so many years, that I would be use to her wake up call, when Mother Nature appears each spring and summer. Not so. She is a yard work-a-holic and we both love it. She plants the flowers, she mows the grass and patiently waits for the first buttercup to show its face. I love to see her “do her thing” in the garden. I do not object when she starts the lawnmower and insists on cutting the grass. I am blessed. I let her run the show. Question: does your partner love to make the flowers grow or am I just a blessed person?

Your wife rocks! :)

We both do.

In fact, for me, it’s therapeutic and I love workin’ in the yard and getting dirty.

I always mow and I love it. We both do the gardening, but we’re not obsessed with it.

You, sir, are a lucky man.

I am the master gardener in my family…though I did catch my wife raking leaves this spring and still stunned by that experience. My kids mow and trim the lawn and I get the flower beds and veggie plot all to my self!

I am the gardener and it is a kind of refuge when I need to get away from the family. It is also a kind of meditation. My wife will sometimes make suggestions, but she doesn’t seem interested in doing the work, so she stays away, unless I’m spending too much time there.

You are very lucky . If she cooks, cleans and does the grass and flowerbeds I’ll buy her from you.

Yeah, the wife multi-tasks to within an inch of her life. I generally lie back & admire the view.

We split it. The mister loves the grass and I love the flowerbeds. I do all of the planting, he does all of the mowing. It’s a nice way to spend time together… we both look forward to it every year.
I love that your wife loves to mow the lawn, she is a better woman than I! :)

Maybe if she lived in 99 degrees for 3 months she wouldn’t love mowing so much? you’ll never see me doing that.

I am the gardener in my household. I feel o happy and lucky to have a balcony where I can grow things in pots after having no access to outdoor space for two years.

Gardening I find is very theraputic and I miss having a yard to mow and tend to since living in an apartment. When I was a kid my father used to tell me that mowing was for boys but I loved it anyways and did it whenever my brother slacked off which seemed to be often. My father was very particular about the lawn and liked it mowed like the golf course. So when I got into having fun and drawing pictures with the mower I would go to my uncles yard who lived right aside us and was always slow in mowing. I used to draw frogs in his lawn when ours was done it was great fun. So no I don’t think your wife is a yard a holic she found something that she loves to do and can’t wait to do it.
