Is the voting for American Idol fixed?

Asked by Abby (116points) April 26th, 2008

or does it just happen to be that the pattern for people being voted off goes male-female-male-female?

I don’t think so, because if it were, the credibility of this franchise would cease to exist and thus the advertisers would not have the audience following. So, I would have to say, it is not fixed because there is too much money at stake for this to be “fixed” for 7 seasons.

who cares anyway? i mean, after the audition it just gets very uninteresting…

People care less about the show once their favourite has been voted off, so why not keep the majority favourite on as long as possible? Fixing wouldn’t make good business sense.

I’m not saying that they choose the person in advance, just that they might push a person up or down a little bit each time. it just seems too perfect that it would always go back and forth between the genders.
