NSFW Why has my chest size gotten dramatically smaller ?

Asked by EtherRoom (387points) June 12th, 2011

I have always had a size 36D breast size since I was 16. I’m 21 right now, but for the past month I’ve noticed my boobs have gotten smaller. Now they’re at 32 inches compared to when they were 36. I don’t know if it’s because of weight loss, but I haven’t lost any weight recently. I’ve even tried taken birth control pills but my body hasn’t changed. I think they’re a size 32C now. I don’t know why they got small out of nowhere.Has any other females had this experience ? I get my periods on a regular and don’t do any drugs.

The main way I know of to lose weight in the chest is through weight loss. My girls are large chested, and I’m certain they would be happier with smaller breasts. Since you started out as a D you still have plenty to make your clothes fit, etc. so I wouldn’t worry in that department.

I’m no expert, but it might be due to fluctuating hormones, but as long as you feel OK, I’d assume you’re fine. And of course, it might not hurt to have a physical and see what a doc says.

Have you changed your eating habits – like eating healthier? Have you been more active lately? You may have lost breast fat but gained muscle in your body ..that would conceal any weight loss/gain (on a scale or in inches elsewhere).

I’ve lost 8 pounds in about 2 months – but my boobs have never ever gotten this small – even when I have lost weight before, so I don’t know what’s going on. I’m a little scared they will stay this size or get smaller.

@snowberry I feel totally fine health wise, I’m just scared why they got smaller and if they keep getting smaller. I’ve lost weight before but never has my chest size gone down from it…. :(

@EtherRoom Is it possible that you’ve lost too much weight (for your age, height, body type)? Usually, if you lose to much weight and there’s not much more to lose ..your breasts will be the next in line.

Whenever I lose even a little bit of weight, the first place it’s noticeable is in my boobage.

However, even though it may seem like a lot to you, your weight loss is proportional. Just get measured for bras and get the size the fits you. You will look and feel better.

Curious. How do you know that your bra size changed? The reason for asking is that not all bra brands run in sizes consistently. Also, there are plenty of articles that point out that women often don’t know how to pick out a proper bra size.

I agree with @marinelife. After going to a lingerie shop, where the clerk didn’t even measure, her selection was a perfect fit. They cost more, but looking and feeling better was worth the price.

@Pied_Pfeffer – I’ve been the same bra size since I was 16, and I went to get fitted a week ago, and I also measured myself with measuring tape. What was always 36inches on my chest is now 32 inches .

@augustlan – I’ve lost weight before though and my breasts and butt have always stayed the same size. All of it would go to my tummy or arms.

Do you feel a bunch healthier?! Maybe you lost fat, but gained muscle, so it seems like you haven’t lost any weight…

Maybe you finally had a correct fitting. (you did say you recently went to get fitted, right?)

I am having the exact same problem. I am 18 and since I was 13 I had a size 36c chest. I have always been active and healthy. My weight has generally stayed the same up till a year ago I went from my normal 125 to 136 because of muscle mass (I started doing weight lifting), however my chest size had never changed till 7 months ago i started a modern dance class and I lost 3 inches on my chest. I no longer dance, but that is the only thing I can figure that happened, and since I dont eat fatty foods my chest size is staying at 34B.
