What's going on with my Facebook IMs and my iPhone?

Asked by kb12345 (435points) June 14th, 2011 from iPhone

I have the iPhone 4 and everytime someone Facebook chats me it gets sent to me as a inbox. I am missing chats because it is not sending me an alert that I got one but instead just vibrating once. How can I get everything back to normal, get a alert when I get a chat or have it sent to my actual chat page instead of inbox? UGH! So simple, yet so annoying!

It’s free by virtue of your purchase of the iPhone. Staffed by very knowledgeable Apple staff. Not outsourced to a foreign country. They all speak English. I’ve never had to wait any longer than 5 mins. unlike most comp. helplines.

They know just about everything there is to know about everything iPhone. If the frontline phone person you reach is new or unsure of the answer, have them transfer you to a product specialist (the telephone equivalent of one of the guys at the Applestore Genius Bar)

I’ve learned so much from these folks I can’t begin to list it all. Every single issue I’ve ever called about has been resolved.

Assuming you’re using the official Facebook app I don’t think they ever had push chat notifications (only inbox notifications). Sometimes even after you think you’ve closed the app/site you are still logged on for a few minutes (it’s weird) and when someone tries to chat with you when you’re not currently on Facebook the message will be sent to your inbox for later viewing.

If you want a free app that does Facebook chat with push messages (even when your phone’s asleep) you can download this, the official facebook app isn’t meant for chat push notifications. Hope I helped!
