What worked for your deviated septum?

Asked by hopscotchy (552points) June 20th, 2011

My husband is miserable and looking for relief. He is considering the surgery to correct it but we haven’t talked to anyone who’s actually had it done. Any experience with this? Did you get the surgery? Did it work?

muchas gracias.

I wear Breathe Right strips every night. Helps me breathe throughout the night.

A friend of mine had it done. Enjoyed the results.

Me! I had the surgery. I had it about 14 years ago. If I had to have the surgery again every five years, I would. It was that good. I went from not being able to breathe and having congestion about 95% of the time, to being able to breathe out of both sides of my nostrils all the time. It is wonderful and I’m very glad I did it.

Surgery. That’s what worked for me too.

I fear the surgery so I grin and bear it. But every case is individual – perhaps I have a milder case.

I couldn’t breathe much through my nose before the surgery.
It changed my life in a simple, fundamental way. No regrets.

I had the surgery. It was painful, then I smacked it before it healed. I thought my head would explode from the pain. It is deviated again, but not so bad. I’ll live with it. The surgery works, so balance the good with the bad.
