Can we please have a way to tell what mod is on duty?

…..

Yeah, I know. Better luck catching the tooth fairy in action.

Not sure that can be done since they stay hidden most of the time ^^

We do have a topic editor on hand. I had “mod” in my topic list, now it’s gone. We’re getting close to catching someone. ;)

What is a topic editor? I don’t even know who all the mods are. Someone did tell me one day but I didn’t memorise the list.

jonsblond's avatar

@Bellatrix I don’t know much about topic editors. All I know is they can change whatever topic you write. They can remove and re-write the topics you choose. I always choose no more than 4 topics, and they are always “on topic”. I find it funny interesting how some are removed. :/

Oh… the POWER :D I barely have any topics. I am too lazy to pick them :D Ty @jonsblond for the information.

I believe JLeslie is a topic editor (most likely among others). The list of current mods can be found here. And I feel like it’s smaller than I remember it – who’s no longer there? I have Dog and petethepothead, but anyone else? And why does it rearrange all their names every time you click on the link?!?

I’m here!

I’d really like it if we had a “contact a mod” button on the site. It would alert all the mods simultaneously, and whoever is on hand could respond quickly.

PS: The topic “mods” has been disabled for a while, so it just removes itself automatically now. I think it was disabled in preference for ‘moderators’.

There aren’t necessarily Moderator workshifts, and there may not always be one on. We do the best we can.

I’d like that very much. I could use a foot massage.

Easy, ask with a nasty answer, and it was usually apparent for me. Not anymore though, I am not active enough.

So, who’s the mod(s) on the deck now?

augustlan's avatar

Me, again. :)

jonsblond's avatar

@augustlan I asked this hoping you would pull that whip out and use it on me. What does a girl need to do to get your attention? ;)

I really like @augustlan‘s idea about a “contact a mod” button. Something that would send a PM to all mods in the hope that someone is online. After resolving the issue, the mod who resolved it could then mark it as “resolved” or something. Of course, I have no idea how complex it would be to put something like that into action – this is just a wishlist.

Flagging something, right now as it stands, does send an email to all the mods. If we’re on, we’ll look at it and see if it’s something that needs to be taken care of. If action is taken, it also sends an email telling the rest of the mods what we did, so we’re all on the same page. So the system we have is something like what you’re describing, @Seelix. It’s just that there’s not always a mod on the immediate lookout. And sometimes, the flags are something that might not really need to be fixed, and if we decline, people think nobody is taking care of the problem they’re perceiving, so they assume no one is on.

Seelix's avatar

@laureth – Oh, I hear you. I’ve modded forums before, so I know the feeling. Still, it would be nice to have a PM option, I suppose.

augustlan's avatar

I’m sure sometimes people want to contact a mod for something that’s not really flag-able, too. Like just to ask a question about how to do something, or if a potential question would be ok.

@jonsblond Step into my parlor, said the spider to the fly. :p

laureth's avatar

@augustlan – That makes sense.

I agree that it would be nice to have a feature that lists the mods that are currently logged in. Sometimes I just want to ask one of them a question, but I don’t know who’s around to answer. At the same time, I can understand if the mods don’t want to be that trackable. It’s not like they don’t work hard enough already.

@Bellatrix You said that you don’t know who all of the mods are. I’m not sure how consistently this list is updated, but here they are.

Bellatrix's avatar

Ty @bobbinhood. Appreciate the tip. I knew how to find out who they are, I just never bother about it really. I appreciate the work they do but if I am modded, I am modded. I undoubtedly did something to cause that to happen :D
