Why am I getting checks from JC Penny case settlements?

I worked at JC Penny for two 4hr shifts, about 8 years ago, and since then I’ve been getting checks in the mail, ranging from $1.50 to $35.00. It’s happened about 10 times since then, and I just got another one, all of them simply saying it was because of a case settlement. I don’t mind getting the money, but I don’t know why I’m getting it, especially since I only worked there for a day or two.
