The world of credit revolves around SSNs. No SSN = SOL

…and even sometimes, SOBs

How do you pay taxes?

Why don’t you have a social security number? A credit card would be low on my list of priorities. You should go to the Social Security Office and get one.

I pay taxes with my ITIN number

Did you ask if you could use that number? mzgator is right. You should be able to get a SSN pretty easily. If they won’t take you ITIN, get the SNN and reapply.

The only way you’re paying taxes with an ITIN is if you’re not eligible to be issued an SSN. Your alternatives would be to get a cash-backed bankcard or a debit card and use that, or resolve whatever issue prevents you from getting a SSN.

all these previous posts are wrong.

YOU NEED AN EIN NUMBER FROM THE IRS, AND YOU CAN TAKE CREDIT IN A CORPORATE NAME.

@allengreen Actually, I suspect that being employed by a corporate entity without having an SSN isn’t going to fly, either. Good try, though.

Best Buy credit card issuer is very specific about having high credit score and passing credit check. This means they are also particular about SSN. I believe you just have to get your SSN before you apply with Best Buy.
