Is lesbianism becoming more of a trend?

Asked by wackshita (4points) July 1st, 2011

More and more straight girls nowadays are trying the “experimenting thing” just for fun… and also many popular celebrities are now confirming that they’re either bi or gay. Example: Lady Gaga…Seems like all of this indicates that lesbianism is becoming not only popular but also acceptable by the society.

A trend? No.

Acknowledged? Yes.

Lesbianism is more acceptable, so more people are being honest about it so it seems more prevalent.

I don’t really believe people choose their sexual orientation like one would choose a pair of shoes.

I agree with what was posted above.
It isn’t a trend. It’s just becoming more and more “okay” to be open about it.

@athenasgriffin @ANef_is_Enuf I don’t think the OP is actually saying its a choice. As said:
“i mean by the way lesbianism is flaunted these days in the media and stuff…”

That being said, there is a trend towards it being more acknowledged but I don’t think that’s what you are trying to get at… can yo clarify your question?

You mean actual lesbians, or where straight female characters “lez it up” for ratings and have a quick make-out session during sweeps week? The first, no, the second, yes.

I really hate to say this but real live Lesbians and even gay men have been fighting the same uphill battle they always have and then some for a long…long time! The difference now is that major media, celebrities and politicians jump on the gay bandwagon to champion their own personal agendas which may allude that there is some trend developing.
