How can I quickly get rid of my red acne marks?

Asked by leopardgecko123 (777points) July 8th, 2011

I have many red acne marks on my forehead and chin that makes me look like my acne is severe, but I really only have mild acne. If I could get rid of these stupid marks, my skin could be almost clear. I cannot remember the last time I looked in the mirror and saw clear, beautiful skin. How in the world can I get rid of these red marks fast without just waiting for them to fade?
Home remedies would be amazing if you have any! (Actually I kind of want some home remedies, sorry I didn’t put that in the question!)
All help is appreciated!

Are we talking actual acne, or the scars? Because the scars you treat like all other scars; moisturize it like no one’s business. Cocoa butter, shea butter, and body butters that don’t have any petroleum or mineral oil in them are going to be the best.

You can try dabbing the areas with lemon juice. Use a cotton ball, dip it into a bit of fresh lemon juice, and dab the acne marks.

@Aethelflaed , what if your skin is already naturally oily? Wouldn’t adding moisturizers based on vegetable butters make things worse?

The thing that worked best for me was a toner with salicylic acid.
For a quick swelling reduction, you can use preparation H, a hemroid medication that reduces swelling.
The On The Spot acne med from nutragena also seems to work fast for one big zit that screams at you.

Wipe vinegar over the affected areas twice a day and let dry on the skin. You will smell like a house salad but it works!

@aprilsimnel It doesn’t on my oily parts.
