What are some of the qualities of an excellent friendship between you and your spouse or partner?

Asked by john65pennington (29258points) July 12th, 2011

A relationship is built on a strong foundation between two people. This foundation has many bricks that hold it together. My favorite bricks are loyalty and trust. There are many more. Question: so, what constitutes a solid friendship between you and your spouse or partner?

Trust, compatibility, a shared sense of humour & the ability to put out a kitchen fire without loss of life, apart from the chicken, which by now is welded to what’s left of the ceiling.

Being comfortable in each others company, trust, humour and lots of it, patience and enjoyment of each others hobbies/interests even when we normally wouldn’t care about that particular thing. For example, he came to see Cher in concert with me even though he is far from a Cher fan he even told me he enjoyed it.

We can always talk, and in fact enjoy conversation, and don’t want to kill each other after a long car ride.

@incendiary_dan I love long car journeys with my partner.

Communication, compassion/thoughtfulness, compromise, trust and sense of humour. We are incredibly compatible with one another.

Not getting angry when there is a difference of opinion. We care enough to think the other person is entitled to his/her own opinion.

Not having to be in each other’s presence at all times. We each do our own “thing” and happily spend our time on our own.

Trust, honesty, respect.
