Creativity. Most of us have it. How do you release yours?

Either through drawing or writing. I’m not sure how ’‘creative’’ any of it is, but I also don’t have that much imagination. However, I do like to get away with these activities and unleash, as you say, what’s in my mind, such as it is.

I like to hear about other people’s problems, and figure out the best way to fix them for them. Its like creating art but more satisfying.

I don’t think I ever really tried to be creative. I don’t even know what I would be talented at.

I shoot porn films, well not just porn films but zombie porn films. Ha! I wish! Just posted that to get @Symbeline‘s attention. Lol.

Creativity? I’m writing a horror screenplay these days. : )

@mazingerz88 Both the lie and the truth got my attention. What kinda horror is this going to be? :)

Also, I’ve seen a zombie porn comic book before…

I draw, write, play music, dance, Fluther and make stuff (like woodworking and such). I’m creative in most things I do – heck, even household cleaning can be creative.

Spoof someone’s avatar maybe?

Berserker's avatar

@Hypocrisy_Central Who you spoofin this time, ya little devil you?

In anyway I feel like it really. Could be sex, could be poetry, could be putting together anything, could be an “unconventional” strategy in wargaming or a team sport, could be workouts, could be playing with other’s emotions (trying to cut back on this one but sometimes the temptation is just so irresistible), etc.

YARNLADY's avatar

I draw designs that are in my head, demanding to be let out.

mazingerz88's avatar

@Symbeline Zombie porn comic book, really? Gonna go google that now! : )
About the script, it’s in found footage genre ala Blair Witch and Paranormal Activity. No witches, no ghosts but something else of course. I’m thinking this could be shot for less than 20T?

Berserker's avatar

I’d give you links, but that was long ago, I couldn’t find that right away…pretty fucked up though lol.

The ’‘something else’’ intrigues me. :) How long you been working on this?

mazingerz88's avatar

@Symbeline Ohh, too bad. I have a few friends who could draw something like that though. It’ll be pretty sick if they do what I have in mind! Lol. Been working on this script on and off since Feb. Focusing more on really completing first draft in a month. Yup.

Writing, drawing, re-arranging my house, making up silly dialogues with my pets. I just told my cat that came in with the evil summer stickers on her tail that she was the ’ sticker picker upper’. lol

I seek liberation via ritualized tantric masturbation.

Coloma's avatar

@ratboy

Forget masturbation, liberation is all about humor, the laughing Buddha. It is one big cosmic joke! :-D

Hypocrisy_Central's avatar

@Symbeline—Oh, you will just have to keep watch, you never know who would be next, not even I know until it starts to come out.- ;-)

I get my best ideas in observation, quiet moments. I get the inspiration for creativity in noisy moments, amidst crowds and seeing what is trendy, popular, or what drives emotion. It is an easy step from that to funnel the energy to an idea. Executing the thought of the idea is the release. 80% are crazy, 10% are undoable, 8% are good but expensive, and 2% seem quite good. There are several a year I really love, but procrastinate on executing. One at a time actually makes me a living. The latter is how I release whatever creativity is left.

Writing, playing guitar, composing music, painting, or sculpting. In that order.

What do I do with my creativity?

Or how do I release it? The only time I feel as if I need to release it is when I’m going through some kind of manic phase. In which case, it’s usually painting, sewing and writing. Things that lend themselves easily to doing frantically in the middle of the night. I’m not exactly going to bust into the shop or the smithy in the middle of the night. Sometimes, just writing down the ideas themselves helps to release that pent-up energy.

Other than those times, I’d say my creativity isn’t so much something to be released; rather it’s just a part of me—in everything that I do.

I don’t really have anything I do to be creative. However, when I need to ponder life, vent, or try to solve one of life’s conundrums, I play a few hours of guitar!

Cooking. I try to make every meal special. I don’t always succeed, but the colors of the food always look good together, the flavors usually complement each other, the presentation is part of the picture and I try to make it reasonably balanced. I use cook books to inspire me and then do it my way. It gives me a lot of satisfaction. A side effect is that I can create something and I don’t have it around forever. I’ve given people pleasure with my creation and then it disappears.

I do a lot of singing or dancing. I do both at the same time. I sing songs as I make them up and then I forget them. Most of my formal creativity (as in actually creating things and keeping them) stopped with high school. I write. I used to have a diary filled with poetry I had written, but then I took a creative writing class. When I heard other people’s amazing poetry, mine seemed paltry in comparison. I have one or two really creative and artistically talented friends, and I feel more creative just being around them.

I decorate my space. I love to come up with color schemes and paint my room and get bedspreads and accents to match. Then when it is perfect I feel really happy for a few weeks, only to feel the need to do it over again.

Mostly, though, I express myself through my wardrobe. In the morning, I feel truly content going through my closet, trying things on, trying to show the world how I feel and what I think without saying a single word or painting a single picture. I love feeling as though who I am and what I look like match. And because who I am is constantly changing, my wardrobe changes with it.

I like to carve out intricate bruises on the heads of fellow golfers…..fore!

First I deprive myself of sleep.

Then I draw, paint, color, redecorate my home, sew, take photos, play the piano, bake, make graphic art… or a gazillion other things that satisfy my nearly consistent urge to create.

Painting I love. Writing, singing and sketching as well.

Pele's avatar

I paint and dabble a little with my glue gun.

Bellatrix's avatar

I write but in the past I have drawn and painted too. I really want to do more drawing and painting AND writing.

I also have to be fairly creative in my job and I find the best way to let that side of my personality out (whether at work or in other pursuits) is to allow my mind to run freely. I find if I can switch off the conscious side of my brain, ideas will just come to me or I will see different ways to solve problems. I sometimes I need to make an effort to clear my mind and to stop ‘consciously’ thinking about whatever it is I am working on and then the ideas come. I often wake up with good ideas.

The owner of this site believes that drawing a spiral could help unlock your creativity. It works for me when I’m feeling a little stagnant.

I release my creativity by writing erotic horror stories. Lately, though, I’ve been building an online game/sim of a kinky nightclub called [NSFW] Edge Play.
