Did my leopard gecko just have a seizure?

Asked by leopardgecko123 (777points) July 14th, 2011

I was getting my gecko out to play and he jumped out of my hands and fell on the floor. He just sat there with his eyes closed, shaking like crazy! He was real stiff as the shaking gradually stopped, then he was back to normal. Will he be okay? And what happened? Did he have a sort of tantrum of seizure or something? I’m so scared!

No he suffered a head injury. It may be minor or it my be serious. I cannot tell through the Net. If you can’t get him to the vet you need to follow these instructions as you would for a bird. Keep him safe and secure.

That fall from approximately a meter high for him/her converts to you falling from approx. twenty, thirty stories, so i am not amazed that gecko is a bit shaken after that ordeal.
If he looks to be just fine again he may have had a slight concussion?
You cannot visit a vet?
You should, if you are really concerned for gecko’ wellbeing.

@rebbel there are no reptile vets in my town

@leopardgecko123 You need to observe him carefully over the next 24hrs. Keep the water dish out of his habitat and put it in only when you are watching him.
