My mixed breed puppy, Lizzie, is about 10 days shy of 5 months. Would I know if her ears were going to point up by now or is it too soon to tell?

Here’s what her ears looked like about 2 weeks ago

and they look pretty much the same now.

Here’s what her mother and aunt’s ears look like. Aunt on the left, mom on the right, brother the little one in the middle.

I don’t really care, I kind of like the floppy dog ear look and she’ll be a great dog either way but I’m just curious.

Nope, she’s definitely going to be droop eared.

I think they’ll probably stay flopped. But that’s cutest because sometimes they flop and plop in ways that perky ears never will. Great pup!

You got a drooper for sure.

@syz, @RealEyesRealizeRealLies and @FutureMemory… well that was easy. That, I guess settles that, thanks. I was kind of hoping that would be the answer, that she was a flopper/drooper so I’m happy.

I agree, she’ll definitely stay floppy-eared. Usually, if the puppy is past 4 months old…the ears will remain the way you see them. In saying that, I mean how the ears naturally sit; as some people crop or tape their dog’s ears to cosmetically change them (which is not natural).

She’s so cute! :)

Her momma looks like part akita, how big is she? Pups ears can go up and down as they cut teeth. But judging from the shape of her head and the set of her ears, I would say they are floppers. She sure is cute though, has a very soft expression, the kind you fall in love with at first glance!

@rooeytoo Love that Akita tail :)

I agree with those saying she will be droopy eared! She is so precious!

My dog has the same ears. They will change with facial expressions and lift part way up but they will flop back down. They may retain more moisture because it makes it harder for air to get in so it might be easier for ear problems to start. Just lift them up and clean them every so often. On the plus side free blowing dirt won’t just enter and cause really grubby ear holes.

My dogs ears were shorter than your dogs ears are when he was a puppy. Your puppy is real cute I never would of figured her to be a mix She definatley looks like a yellow lab!
This is my lab shepherd X’s ears now Otis
I agree with everyone else your dogs ears will be floppity :)
